Episode Transcript
[00:00:00] Speaker A: So let me hurry this up, because I got people looking for me.
[00:00:03] Speaker B: Take a walk with Bianca through the fire, through the paper. We walk with freedom.
We walk with fulfillment.
We walk with truth.
We walk with purpose. And we walk with receipts.
Lace up, speak up, show up.
Yeah.
[00:00:28] Speaker A: Hey, y'.
[00:00:29] Speaker B: All.
[00:00:29] Speaker A: Welcome, welcome, welcome. Welcome to the power walk. Welcome to Aqua Therapy. As I said, I was going to change things up now. They were not doing all that construction noise, but I hit the button.
All right, all right, cool. Let's stay focused. Stay focused, y'.
[00:00:46] Speaker B: All.
[00:00:47] Speaker A: Listen.
I know y' all see what's going on.
They removing black representation. They are changing maps to prepare for the midterms.
They are spinning propaganda because the midterms are approaching.
And meanwhile, there are people out here that are just trying to survive. There are people out here that are considering closing their business because it's not sustainable right now in this economy. And what's happening. You have people that are literally on their very last.
And then when you watch the news and you see the people who have the power and the control to do things, they choose to lie.
They choose to misrepresent what's happening. And the fact that you have the President of the United States saying that Joe Biden is responsible for gas prices. Yo, I know, like the. Like the songwriter says, I know you see it.
[00:01:50] Speaker B: I know you see it.
[00:01:53] Speaker A: The folks are wild.
Canvas hat wild work.
The messages that I'm receiving about the situation is getting even wilder. The fact that they got a whole ransom of, like, canvas, you better pay me by the close of business on May 12, or we expose it. All of it is just absolutely wild. This has been one of the largest ed tech breaches in history.
Okay. I just haven't seen such a major outage like this before. And then at the end of the school year. So in the state of Florida, which is where I primarily do business, you know, they're on PM3. For those of you that don't know the acronym, progress monitoring. So this is testing season. We're actually testing this. This is testing season. This is final exams. This is the end. The end of the school year. This is wrapping up grade. This is all those things that happens in this month of May, which, by the way, is Teacher Appreciation week month. And they should actually have the whole year, particularly how this year is going for them, because it's been wild since the very beginning, not even knowing that they were going to even have funding because of the changes that were happening with the Department of Education, which, by the way, by the way if you don't know those changes are wide. The fact that I have people on the inside telling me the things that are going on around here, it is wild. And the fact that some people are on the Internet talking about the things and have no idea what they're talking about. It's even better if you don't have a receipt. Shut up.
We have too much at stake for you to get on the Internet and lie or hide behind a fake page. Let me tell you something. I'm gonna keep saying his name. I'm gonna keep talking about it. And I'm talking about the organizations that are uplift in supporting it. And I'm saying uplifting and supporting it because they are aware that he's responsible. He has a role in the organization and several other organizations, too. I'm asking about these other boards, too. Ko, Nord, Hodges, and how people have allowed him to do what he does. And I'm going to talk about it because it's my story, right? So let me just uplift it in this particular episode because I'm going say it until I get accountability. We're on an accountability tour, if you didn't know.
So who's on my list is the naacp.
I was trying to meet up and actually go to the Hillsborough NAACP office when I was there at the beginning of the year, okay. Before I left to come here. All my attempts to resolve this matter privately has not worked. So the reason why I'm talking about this publicly is because it's my business and I can. I just want to uplift for the people that be like, why all black people want to tear black people down and black organizations down and why do we keep want to tear people down? No accountability. Folks, we need to have a clear conversation about accountability and what that word means and how we're going to uplift and hold people accountable. Okay? We have to hold people accountable. It is too much at stake to just be letting things slide and be like, oh, we can't talk about it because it's a black person. We can't. And listen, I'm a black woman, so I'm talking about my black experience as a black queer woman. Woman. Okay? I am talking about my experience about what happened to me. Now, if you have your own story and you have your own testimony and you have your own.
Speak your truth. Speak your truth. And if you want to turn that into a podcast, I have an ebook. Go to my website at www.bianca goolsbee.com forward/speakyourtruth and you'll see the ebook. You can get it. I've made every attempt to resolve the matter privately before I talked about it publicly. And I am so disappointed that there is no resolution to the fact that even when other people got involved to try to mediate the situation, that that didn't come to a resolution. And the resolution is very, very simple.
Y', all, what I'm asking for is an apology. I am here to ask for accountability. And also I want Kato Nora Hodges for operating this fake page for so long. Y', all. This page has been going on for over five years, y'. All. Over five years. This page is going on. And I don't have no respect. I have no respect for anybody that is engaging with that fake page, knowing that it's a fake page.
Yeah, this is the point where the, like, filter is completely off. Right? Like, I'm in the water. I'm in my safe space. So listen to me good.
The amount of harm that I have personally experienced with advocating for children, for speaking the truth, for sharing the receipts for all those things, I've had to go to therapy. And I still actively pay my therapist. And what I'm here to tell you is that I'm not going to allow anybody to derail my process and my progress of where I've been and where I'm going, where God has taken me. And I'm so grateful for all of that. But please understand. Don't play with me, Kato, nor Hodges. Sir.
I don't even know if you look at yourself in the mirror, do you?
Because the fact that you get on this Internet and say the most egregious things about people is absolutely wild to me.
And then when I'm given the background of your story and where you've come from and the obstacles that you've gone through, let's just say that I thought something different, and I'm sorry. Like, I just don't respect it. Nor do I respect anybody that plays both sides on the matter. I don't. I have no respect. I have no respect.
So there are some people where they haven't heard from me, and they won't because I don't respect you. If you want to hold me accountable for the things that I say, great. I welcome that. I want that. I encourage that. Please hold me accountable as I bow and want to honor the three keys. Accountability, transparency, and integrity are not just words for me. Okay.
Almost died with my heart. And I will continue to tell my story as it relates to God saving me. And I'm still here. And I'm grateful to God that I have this battery that keeps me alive and how God keeps me here to continue to say the things and to spread the message and to let people know the things that are on my heart that God puts in me. But also don't play with me.
So to President Yvette Lewis of the naacp. Hi.
I don't mean any harm or ill. Will, never have, never will. Because that's not my character.
I need accountability for personal legal correspondence that was posted on that fake Facebook page that is operated by someone who handles the communication and photography work for the Hillsborough naacp.
I know that you know that Cato Nora Hodges is behind the page.
And Cato has even said it to several people that he is behind the page. I just want accountability. That's all I'm asking for. I am asking for accountability for your officers doing a public records request on my personal information for the district and how that got published on a fake Facebook page that has been cyber harassing people for over five years. I want accountability for the legal correspondence that was sent to the Hillsboro NAACP when previous officer Joe Robinson lied about me and my employment record on the radio and a cease and assist was sent to him by my attorney to tell him to stop.
I just want accountability. I don't have to lie on nobody.
I don't have to make anything extra. I got a lot going on. I don't need to add more, I promise you. So my ask, and for those of you that say that you love me, that you care about me, that you want the best for me, I'mma tell you flat out what I want and what I need and what I'm asking, I'm. I'm asking for accountability for the harm that has been done to me.
And while I might not get an apology and I'll have to deal with that on my own, that's what I'm in therapy for, to deal with it so that I can continue to show up and not be in fear that someone is going to take my content and what I say and come up with different narratives that aren't true. And that just happened recently. Cato did that.
I couldn't even talk about my own divorce without him adding extra details to something that was very painful in my life to deal with.
It's not fun being cheated on, and it's not fun being cheated on in public. And people know and they smiling in your face and you have no idea until you go get the receipt yourself and then you see and then they lie to you. About it. I've had to heal from so much that I haven't vocally talked about. And then I would be in fear of vocally talking about it because there would be people like, well, why are you talking about that? Why are you sharing all this stuff? And it's like. But then there are people that's like, bianca, thank you for sharing that. Thank you for saying that. I needed to hear that today. So, hey, you know what? Let people talk.
[00:11:42] Speaker B: About.
[00:11:43] Speaker A: Cuz they gonna talk and I'm gonna talk too. And there's been a lot where I've been silent and not saying anything on.
And while there's some things God told me to be quiet and hush, and there's other times where God has told me to speak and I didn't.
And I had to deal with that by not being obedient and, and, and not listening, y'. All. I, I just want accountability.
I want accountability from the president of the Hillsboro NAACP for the things that have been said and done to me directly to my information being exposed on a fake Facebook page where privileged information was shared publicly. I would also like Kato Nord Hodges to be held accountable for his activity on the Internet. At the end of the day, Cato's gonna have to look in the mirror and Cato is gonna have to like what he sees in the mirror or not. And I will tell you just from personal experience, there were some times that I didn't like what I looked like in the mirror. And as a result, my actions weren't the best because I wasn't my best.
So I'm saying it not in a place of judgment, more in a place of curiosity. Because I do wonder what the end goal is with all of it, with creating AI images of people in fake and compromising situations to putting a whole chapter.
And I'm not even a part of that sorority. And I feel some type of way about the way that this sorority is being drug around in this dispute, which I don't necessarily think it should be, but again, not my organization, but I definitely see what's happening. That's a lot.
Also, people can talk and people can hold people accountable and people can say their opinion. And I'm just so sick of some black people that be like, oh, we gotta stop tearing our people down for holding them accountable. Boohoo, boohoo.
People can't eat. People don't have gas money. People are homeless. People are trying to figure out how they going to survive out here. You got people out here, positions of power, just out here lying I hope that y' all truly buckle up and understand what's happening.
And it's going to require, as my best friend would say, radical acceptance to understand what's happening. But it is not sustainable. Hasn't been, will not be. And I've been preaching the same thing since 2020 about how the education system is not sustainable. And look at that.
Nine thousand institutions, over 270 million users, are impacted by a major edtech cybersecurity breach with Canvas. Some of them can't access their grades, some of them can't access their exams. And we're at the end of school. The destruction that is happening each day that a child goes into a classroom and there's no work for them to do because they're locked out of systems. And I know because as business technology educator, let me remind y', all, I worked in the classroom teaching business technology. You know how many times we couldn't do a test because the bandwidth, because of so many computers signed in at the same time that the Internet is so slow that it makes it not usable?
The edits on this is going to be wild. So, in closing, I'm on an accountability tour, and one of the pieces of the accountability tour is also myself. And I've also had to hold myself accountable for how I have shown up and the things that I have done and the things that I have said. And I am just thankful to God for redemption and grace and being on the other side of some of the obstacles that I had been facing and dealing with. But please believe me when I tell you that I am here for a purpose. I'm here to tell my story. And me almost losing my life due to heart failure and having this battery put in me so that I can continue to stay alive is something I have. I.
There's no way that you could be the same person when you go through something so traumatic on top of everything else, on top of that, too. I want you to be mindful of your energy and how you show up. Continue shining your light and being that light for people, because people need it in this vital time. It's so much that's happening and people need help and systems are breaking and people are lying.
People are lying.
So, yeah, I hope that you subscribe to my mailing list so that you can get connected with all the other events that I have in the works and planning stages so that you can be there, you can see the replay, you can be intentional with the information because it is important that you do know how to protect your children.
What things to look for, how to protect yourself as best as possible in these digital spaces.
Because this is only going to get worse. Because by the way, the hacking group that got canvas, it's a list of them that they got. They don't just got canvas, it's so many large companies that they got.
So please understand that they say nothing new in the sense of people being hacked and data being breached.
Just pray for our students and our educators and again, wish them a happy Teachers Appreciation Week, because they deserve it. And yeah, we got to do better for our teachers. Till next time.
Peace.
[00:18:00] Speaker B: Lace up, speak up, show up with freedom, with a feeling?
We walk with you with purpose and we walk worthy.
Lace up, speak up, show up.
